We have some stunning new images as part of four new case studies from Pakistan. This is an image of Maryam and her four-year-old daughter Zainab. The ShelterBox aid items Maryam received have given the family hope as now they have shelter, clean drinking water, and emergency lights to see at night.
We have also composed a climate change reel for social media featuring drone footage from Pakistan.
The UK winter appeal for Ukraine is starting to come to together with the launch of the webpage. You can access images and content from the appeal, including the website file for export in the News Resource here.
We also have another new case study from Ukraine featuring Olena (pictured above), who received a shelter kit and was able to make repairs to her home in preparation for winter ahead.
We used to look to the future, but now we don’t. There are no long-term plans because you don’t know what will happen tomorrow.
Response highlights and challenges this week include:
Monitoring:
Tropical Cyclone Nalgae, Philippines: Around 1.95 Million affected individuals (590,990 families) from 17 Regions, 67 Provinces and 614 Cities/Municipalities of which 975,374 individuals were displaced.
Civil unrest, Democratic Republic of Congo: Fighting in the Northeastern state of North Kivu has resumed after months of relative calm.
We have a lovely new story about the women who make the ShelterBox bags in the Philippines. They are part of a cooperative called SUMBANAN - an organisation of farmers' families helping each other, and they sew durable bags to hold household aid items.
We have a new case study from the winterisation assesments in the northwest of Syria, in which Ali describes the difficult conditions of winter in camp with nine children.
